I had been worried early, during the world cup 2010 draw last night, when England’s first group opponents were USA, however the last two teams added to the group made all England fans relax a bit. Algeria and Slovenia surely should not poss any real problems.
Even the next round seems pretty amicable for England. Assuming England win group C and Germany win group D, which is no stretch of the imagination. England would face Australia, Serbia or Ghana.
This draw definitely gives us an odds on chance of getting to at least the quarter final.
The other groups seem pretty well distributed, but I think group G would have to be considered the “group of death”, with Brazil, Portugal and Côte d’Ivoire all capable teams. Unfortunately Kim Jong-il will only be broadcasting games that North Korea win…so I’m guessing North Koreans will not get to see any of the World cup; being in this group.
